Curriculum Information

Broadmoor Elementary School utilizes a curriculum that engages students and provides age and developmentally appropriate experiences for both academic and social growth. Students are provided core instruction in mathematics, reading, language arts, social studies and science. They are provided daily physical education class and music education twice a week. Additionally, students are provided opportunities in STEM Lab, art and Library weekly. In the fifth grade, students can elect to participate in Band.

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a term used in Kansas to describe how schools go about providing supports for each child in their building to be successful and the processes and tools teachers use to make decisions. MTSS is defined as a coherent continuum of evidence based, system-wide practices to support a rapid response to academic and behavioral needs, with frequent data-based monitoring for instructional decision-making to empower each Kansas student to achieve to high standards.

At Broadmoor Elementary, student data helps drive instruction. In addition to classroom assessments, the students at BES participate in the Fastbridge Assessment three times a year to monitor student achievement and growth. The use of this information, along with teacher input and daily performance on formative assessments, helps us determine the right level of support in the MTSS model for your child.

Another tool to help our teachers learn and grow is the Kansas Assessment Program. Students are provided instruction along the essential learning standards of the Kansas Department of Education. Students are then assessed to determine their level of mastery of those standards during the fourth quarter. Parents have the right to request access to their student's state assessment scores. This data is also available in through the Skyward Family Access.
